What the petition asks
Post Brexit is an especially important time for our nation to be joined in solidarity. This is impossible when the media is allowed to publish blatent lies and bias opinion. The role of the media is to give us news, not use us for their own agenda. They should be held to account and regulated.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
There is already a detailed regulatory framework in place to cover newspapers, which was recently reviewed following an independent inquiry chaired by Sir Brian Leveson. You can read about press regulation and how it is enforced here: https://www.ipso.co.uk/.
There is a separate regulatory framework in place for other types of media, which is overseen by Ofcom. You can read about that here: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/.
It is not clear what further action you want the Government to take.
