What the petition asks
While acknowledging that Britain has voted by national referendum to leave the European Union, we the undersigned urge HM Government to withhold from invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty for a period of five years from the date of the referendum.
This will provide the best framework for a well-managed British withdrawal from the European Union, promoting national unity, enabling fair and amicable negotiations, and preventing long term damage to the British economy.
