Make "English" as a Passport nationality for English born persons
Rejected
16 signatures
What the petition asks
People born in Wales have "Welsh" as their nationality, people born in Scotland have "Scottish" as their nationality, people born in Ireland have "Irish" as their nationality. Currently, people born in England are automatically classified as "British" - this is wrong and should be "English".
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
British citizens from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have British passports and are described in those passports as British citizens. It is therefore not clear what you would like to change.
Citizens of the Republic of Ireland have Irish passports because it is a separate sovereign state.
Citizens of the Republic of Ireland have Irish passports because it is a separate sovereign state.
