Petition · past parliament
Re-run the EU referendum extending the franchise to 16 & 17 year olds.

What the petition asks
Following the Leave vote and an extremely tight result, there should be a re-run of the 2016 EU membership referendum allowing 16 & 17 year olds to vote because it affects their lives substantially and their age group proved mature enough to vote on the Scottish independence referendum in 2014.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
The EU referendum has already taken place. It is therefore no longer possible for the franchise (the groups of people who are entitled to vote) to be changed.
