What the petition asks
We the undersigned call upon the present HM Government to NOT start the irreversible process of leaving the EU or invoke Article 50. With the country and both major political parties now in turmoil, the electorate should be able to vote on who will lead them and on what basis.
Both political parties are likely to have a change of leadership and cabinet, their policies are likely to change. The electorate must be given a chance to vote on this. Both politicians and the electorate need a cooling off period and a chance to reconsider given the momentus consequences of the unexpected Leave win. Many people feel the referendum should be considered invalid, they were misinformed and misled. Some key promises on which many people voted Leave have now been retracted.
