Subject political claims and adverts to the same scrutiny as all others.

What the petition asks
During campaigns lies and misinformation are put in the public domain that are not subject to scrutiny by the Advertising Standards Authority. The ASA should not be able to pick and choose the work they do.
Whichever side of a debate you stand on, voters deserve the right to factual information. Every claim needs to be verified or given the right to be made. Selecting one figure or claim from many to suit a cause should be prohibited. Lies should be stopped. Voters deserve the right to information not disinformation. Making politicians qualify their statements may restore some respect in politics.
