Hold a General Election before Brexit
Rejected
15 signatures
What the petition asks
This petition asks the House of Commons to vote on the motion “That there shall be an early parliamentary general election”, as per Section 2.1(a) of The Fixed-Term Parliaments Act 2011 BEFORE informing the European Council of Brexit under Lisbon Treaty Article 50.
The UK voted AGAINST staying in the EU but it is unclear what people voted FOR. Holding a General Election before Brexit would let politicians plan HOW to exit the EU (or not) and the electorate to vote FOR their preferred plan in the early General Election.
