What the petition asks
The referendum process was lamentably irresponsible and mendacious. It misled large numbers of people and produced a deeply damaging result which threatens the unity of the country, the economic prosperity of our people, and our relations with our key international allies.
In law the referendum is advisory and non-binding, and cannot override the constitutional principle of parliamentary sovereignty.
The expressed preference of the clear majority of MPs is to remain within the EU.
