Prevent lying, distorting, or misrepresenting facts during political campaigns

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

Given the current situation with the outright dishonesty presented during the recent EU Referendum, I propose the creation of a law, or several, that would prevent politicians and media outlets from lying, distorting, or misrepresenting facts during political campaigns.
Things have reached a point in politics where the people can no longer trust what they are being told by the people who hold their futures in the palms of their hands. We can no longer trust media outlets to give us unbiased facts. We can no longer trust the people we vote into office to keep their word. We can no longer trust our own government. This needs to change.
