Make it a criminal offence to mislead the public whilst campaigning.

What the petition asks

The EU referendum was characterised by misleading and false statements. Despite the UK statistics authority confirming that the statement that £350 million pounds is sent to the EU every week was a lie, the campaigners continued to state it. There must be a way to force retractions.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

Make it illegal for any UK political figure to knowingly lie or mislead.
