What the petition asks
As London voted to remain in the EU, it is more evident than ever the similarities that the Borough of Elmbridge in North Surrey shares with neighbouring Greater London. As talks of further devolution of London develop, Elmbridge citizens must be protected.
In the EU referendum, 60% voted to remain with a turnout of 78%, similar to that of London.
Elmbridge has a vibrant economy with over 5000 firms situated in the borough.
Over 45% of Elmbridge's population are educated to degree level.
Unemployment peaked at 7% in 1993 but since then has been on the decline and reached a low of 0.9% in 2000.
