Implement a test to show basic understanding before being able to vote

What the petition asks
If everyone had to take a basic test before being permitted to take part in any major vote it would give us a far more accurate foundation with which to build on.
So many voters in the EU referendum have been shown to have little or no understanding of what it is they are actually voting on and why. This is in no way removing peoples right to vote, as anyone who wants to vote can then do the required research and pass the required test. We can't do many things without showing the required knowledge, why should we decide the country's future without it? This surely wouldn't be too hard to implement with today's online technology.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We don't know what sort of understanding or test you want to be introduced. We think you might want the same action as this petition:
Control the right to vote, by a political knowledge test.
Control the right to vote, by a political knowledge test.
