What the petition asks
The Lancastria sank 17th June 1940 taking with it between 5-10,000 men women and children plus pets making it Britain's Worst maritime Disaster. France have recognised the sinking, Scotland has recognised the sinking with a medal plus monument on the Clyde 2011. What have the British done-NOTHING!
After many years writing to the British Government regarding recognition for "Britains Worst maritime Disaster!" The government choosing every year to ignore pleas and cries of not only the survivors of the disaster but also the families of those lost. Last year stand in for our Prime Minister Osborne finally acknowledged that the disaster ever took place and stated it was now "appropriate" to recognise the sinking which has brought strange feelings of mistrust and anger amongst its Nation.
