Bring back the DECC (Department of Energy & Climate Change)

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

The DECC has been abolished by new Prime Minister Theresa May, with UK energy policy set to be merged into a new ministry called the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

There are concerns that this new department will reduce the government's focus on tackling climate change.
In addition, the new Environment Secretary Andrea Leadsom has been criticised for her attitude towards climate change and her voting record on environmental policies, such as fox hunting, forestry and indeed climate change. This reinforces the need for the DECC to be reinstated.
