Petition · past parliament
Random drug and alcohol checks for people claiming job seekers allowance.

What the petition asks
Many companies require new employees to carry out a drug and alcohol test. I believe that those who are receiving jsa should also be subject to these test. They should not be allowed to fund their habit and restrict their chances of getting a job using money given to them by the government.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand your request about drugs testing, but we don't understand the part about alcohol, given that alcohol is legal in the UK. If you think that there should be a legal limit on the amount of alcohol JSA claimants can consume before attending a JobCentre appointment (a bit like the legal blood-alcohol limit for driving), you could start a petition about this. As currently drafted, your petition doesn't call for sufficiently clear and specific action by the Government.
