What the petition asks
A PSV holder is a person who holds a licence to drive a bus, with this they can drive any type of bus from a minibus & double decker, right up to a bendy bus. They carry very precious cargo (the general public). But yet holders of these licences can't drive a class 2 lorry. It doesn't make sense.
For example,
Bus length - 12 metres,
Class 2 lorry - 7.9 metres
Bus weight - 14 ton
Class 2 lorry weight - 7.5 ton
Bus contents - passengers
Class 2 content - packages and goods
If for example you drive a bendy bus, you need similar skills to a class 1 lorry driver in relation to length and reversing.
My argument is that psv drivers are more highly trained and skilled than a class 2 driver because of the contents and vehicle sizes, and they should automatically have class 2 entitlement.
