What the petition asks
I am a 17 year old girl who has lived with and helped to look after my mum, who has suffered with Parkinson's Disease since 2007. I would like to petition again the fees of prescription charges for people with such diseases, after our local MP refused to help us.
There is a fee of £8.40 per item for medications, for someone like my mum who could pay a potential fee of £51.60 a month for a illness that she can not help, or can not be cured. With her "season ticket" she pays £132 a year!
In Scotland and Wales, prescriptions are free. Over 65's also do not pay, aswell as people with problems such as diabetes or thyroid disorders.
This differs from people with chronic illnesses, who often can not work and get less money.
