What the petition asks
Current law allows the parent remaining with the kids to remain in the family home till the youngest turns 18. Leaving the other parent potentially homeless. The law needs to change so that the when separation/divorce happens all assets should be sold/divided equally allowing both to move on
I am currently living with family as I can not afford nor get help with housing. I share my kids so when I have them I rely on family to put me and my kids up. This is extremely unfair on all. I am not the first nor will I be the last to find myself in this situation. Most people will know of someone having the same issue as myself. Mediation/solicitors/court costs if the law was changed so that when a couple separate/divorce all assets should be sold/divided equally it would save time and money
