abolish hate crime laws in the UK

What the petition asks
A crime is a crime. the motivation for committing the offence should be inconsequential to the sentencing. Labelling an offence as racially, religiously or gender motivated only serves to create an 'us and them' mentality.
In recent months police have been silencing anti Islam and anti refugee opinions by labelling them as hate crimes. recently Nottinghamshire police have taken the law into their own hands and have made misogyny a hate crime (but not misandry). This has turned certain groups into protected classes in society.
