What the petition asks
Since 2010, 285 children’s centres have closed or merged, and over the last three years over £82m has ben cut from children’s centre budgets. (Source 1). These centres are crucial in allowing children from all backgrounds access to play opportunities vital for learning.
In our local area of London Borough of Croydon the budget for children's centres was reduced from £4.6 million to £3.5 million just between 2012 to 2013 and has continued to suffer cuts since (Source 2). From having 26 centres in the Borough in 2012 most have been forced to merge and now only open alternate days.
