Make a law about the ratio of staff to residents in a care home with dementia.

What the petition asks

I have seen how things are run in my mother's care home and we are neglecting these vulnerable people. There are not enough staff for the care and well being of the residents. I am one of very few relatives who visit regularly. After all most of us will end up in this situation.

Of course the answer is that more staff are needed
At the moment there is no law regulating the ratio of staff per resident, only guidelines set out by CQC, which in essence let the care home decide the best way to manage their staff. So it’s a money issue - care homes charge between £700 to £1000 per week. My mother is self funded so we are eating our way through her savings very quickly, she has a terminal illness just like many others but her treatment is not fre
