What the petition asks

we call for the government to fund all rural home to school transport across the country instead of local councils being responsible for setting their own privatized school bus services, which is causing financial hardship to working families, and severe disruption to public services.

local councils have been given responsibility for setting school bus services, which has allowed them to privatize the bus routes and hike up the prices to almost £1000 per child,per year in some cases. This is causing severe financial hardship to low income families who do not qualify now under the new 'nearest school' changes, as opposed to the old 'catchment school' agreement.we would like all children to travel to school for free, all current school bus services also need improvement.
