What the petition asks
Zander have been in England since 1878 and today hold great interest with anglers as a superb sporting fish. Their effect on tackle trade is marked as so many lure anglers spend a lot of money on all the accoutrements needed to successfully target the species.
A lot of money is wasted trying to iradicate Zander from our waters by the Canal & Rivers Trust and yet modern anglers love to fish for them. Modern lure angling also offers children a great way of enjoying this traditional sport and Zander are a big part of the inner city street angling scene.
