What the petition asks
The Clinical Commission Group are proposing to remove the 16 remaining hospital beds at Okehampton Hospital. Residents of Okehampton and the surrounding area, urge the retention of our local hospital beds. Okehampton is the hub of a huge rural area with a population of 20,000 people. .
Okehampton is geographically isolated from East Devon hospitals where beds are retained for non-acute care.
The frail and elderly need local pre and post op beds for rehabilitation and nursing care 24/7 and a proper care package before they go home. With poor public transport some friends and families already travel many miles to get to Okehampton.
