To grant Reading (Berkshire) city status as a key hub in Thames Valley

Closed 413 signatures

What the petition asks

Reading (Berkshire) has a population of 232,000 and is a key hub for the Thames Valley region. Its importance should be recognised and given city status. We the people of Reading are now asking the Lord Chancellor to recommend to the Monarch, the granting of city status to Reading.
Reading is a Vibrant City that contributes significantly to our economy and culture. It is one of the largest towns worthy of City status.

The town applied in 2012 and was disappointed after a long application process. It was not selected as one of the three cities chosen but we strongly believe that it should be chosen.
