What the petition asks
The general public and a growing number of MPs want to see vast improvement in the welfare of domestic, farm and wild animals in the UK and for animals to have a compassionate voice in parliament.
Responsibilities could include the desire to 'end long distance live animal exports', 'end caged hens and farrowing crates for pigs', 'introduce better meat labelling', 'have CCTV in all slaughterhouses', 'phase out non stun slaughter', 'have scientific evidence-based debate on badger culling and driven grouse shooting', 'strengthen the ban on hunting with hounds', 'prevent dog fighting and badger baiting and ensure higher prison sentences for perpetrators', 'ban indiscriminate snares' etc.
