Debate the legality of restrictions on same sex marriage in Northern Ireland.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

The DUP just refused, by 'petition of concern', the freedom and right of homosexuals to marriage. This is a right enjoyed in all other parts of Britain and to deny a right, on grounds of religious bigotry, is shameful.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Your petition is about something that the Northern Ireland Assembly is responsible for.

If you'd like to send your petition to the Northern Ireland Assembly, you can find the contact details here:

The question of whether or not the situation in Northern Ireland is legal would be a matter for the courts to decide, not the UK Government or Parliament.
