Petition · past parliament
Hold by-elections where the majority have voted Leave but the MP is Remain
Rejected
19 signatures
What the petition asks
The decision to vote Leave was made in the Referendum and if assessed on a constituency basis, would have resulted in a huge majority of Leave MPs in Parliament. The danger of Remainer MPs going against the expressed will of the people is clear, but holding by-elections will resolve the issue.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The UK Government and Parliament are not responsible for removing MPs from office because of their views and opinions.
