What the petition asks
Currently school holidays excluding bank holiday days equate to 52 days off per year, those who work struggle to cover these dates using their holiday entitlement from work.
We are asking that the government raise statutory holiday entitlement to 26 days per year plus bank holidays (34 total) to enable working parents to cover childcare during school holidays. The legal entitlement at present is 28 days and employers can choose to have 8 of those as bank holidays.
