What the petition asks
In England you pay for prescriptions, unless you have an illness from a special list, or meet other criteria (eg age or max income/assets). This list was set in the 60s; cancer is the only new addition.
We call for those with illnesses lasting 6+ months to get free prescriptions for that illness.

Around 800,000 people skimp on medication for cost reasons (IPSOS MORI). This raises overall NHS costs. E.g. the cost of an A&E visit for worse asthma exceeds the cost of the drugs. The regime is unfair & out of date, leaving many risking their health.
