Ensure that in future 65% of eligible voters are required to pass a referendum.

What the petition asks
For changes that would have a profound effect on the nation its constitution and its people a clear 65% of eligible voters should be the mark so there can be no doubt as to the legitimacy of the vote. In addition Parliament should be legally obliged to honour any passed referendum.
Previous referendums are held at the first past 50% of those that voted is all that is needed to carry a referendum this could be seen as undemocratic as it is not based on the eligible voting public. Also allowing such tight voting margins can be seen to be a cause of civil unrest.
