Impose economic sanctions on the USA if they renege on the Paris Climate deal

What the petition asks

Climate change is an immediate threat to global ecosystems, livelihoods and communities. The Paris climate agreement is international law and must be fulfilled in order to mitigate dangerous warming. We call for economic sanctions on the USA if they withdraw from the agreement.

Climate change will rapidly escalate within decades unless urgent action is taken. The USA contribute 16% of global CO2 emissions and must play a leading role in fulfilling the Paris agreement. If the USA withdraw this could lead to catastrophic consequences, with the poorest people in the world suffering the most. If they withdraw, the UK should impose economic sanctions on the USA and encourage its allies to do likewise.
