Referendum on replacing the House of Lords with a fully elected upper house
Closed
89 signatures
What the petition asks
The current House of Lords does not reflect the UK population and is currently non elected, this means they has the power to block legislation that could be beneficial for the UK, without actually being elected by any British citizens. Hold a referendum to see if Britons want an elected upper house
The UK is one of the only countries that includes non-elected religious leaders in its Upper House, the only other modern day country that has this is Iran.
