What the petition asks
Safety should be accessible to all.
Currently the price for a car seat can range from £50 to £400. Car seats with more advanced safety mechanisms such as ISOFIX are almost always over £150. What we propose regulation of car seat prices to ensure that every child has a better chance of survival.

Why should income be the difference between life and death for a young child in a vehicle accident?
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The issue you raise is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. The pricing of car seats is the responsibility of manufacturers and retailers.
The Government can change the rate of VAT applied to car seats, but under EU rules, the Government cannot reduce this to any rate below 5%.
