Record a vote of "no confidence" in Swindon Borough Council in 2016

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

We the undersigned would like to register a vote of "no confidence" in the elected officials of Swindon Borough Council in 2016. We ask that the government intervene to ensure residents get better service for the taxes paid. Below are examples of just some of SBC's failures:
1, Closure of all but 5 libraries
2, Outsourcing of leisure services delivering poor service at higher cost
3, Refusal to accept Swindon school failings
4, Wifi investment unaccounted for
5, Adoption of second rate 4G superfast solution over superior fibre optic service
6, Continual building of houses without provision of services
7, Failure to redevelop the town centre
8, Failure to develop the North Star site
9, Continual poor road development
10, Parishing plans against publish wishes

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept this petition because it asks for something that neither the House of Commons nor the Government can do. The expression "vote of no confidence" is used when talking about a vote in the House of Commons which tests whether or not the Government of the day has the confidence of a majority of MPs in the House of Commons. The concept of the House having “confidence” in someone does not apply to local councils.
