What the petition asks
To bring a partner or spouse in the UK, British citizens have to show income of at least £18,600 or more if they have children a rule which does not apply to settled Europeans living in the UK
EU nationals living in the UK are allowed to bring in spouses and families from anywhere in the world.
EU nationals living in the UK are allowed to bring in spouses and families from anywhere in the world.
How is it possible that another EU citizen has more rights to family life than a British national in the UK?
We ask for a change to these rules to give British citizens the right to have their spouses or partners live and work with them in the UK, without the income requirements. Also to be granted the 5 year residence card, as other spouses of EU nationals are entitled to, not the 30 months given to spouses of British citizens.
