What the petition asks
As a student in the UK with a part time job I have a very limited income, and I think there is a real unjust in the transport system. Where young people have to pay full train fares on a very low wage.
Living in a town just outside of a major city, I think that it is key to be able to access public transport but say if I wanted to go into Sheffield for work it would cost me over an hours work just to get there and back. Also I'm very lucky because surrounding town's have to pay over two hours work just to get there and back. (based on a minimum wage of £4.00)
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The price of train tickets is the responsibility of train operating companies.
You could start a new petition asking for the Government to provide a travel subsidy for students using trains, which is something the Government could do.
