Stop Israel influencing the BDS movement, its our human right to boycott Israel

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

The British government has passed a bail to force business owners to buy goods from the Israel even though they have been occupying Palestine land for centuries and killing babies to make way for settlers whom aren't from Palestine!!

Around 200 lawyers and academics have said moves by the UK and other nations to discourage support for the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement may violate fundamental human rights.

An open letter signed by legal experts from Britain and 14 other European nations said the boycott of Israeli companies and goods manufactured in the Occupied Palestinian Territories was “a lawful exercise of freedom of expression”.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We’re not sure what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take. No law has been introduced to force business owners to buy goods from Israel, and if business owners want to boycott a country or group, they are free to do so.

The letter that you mention referred to a policy note that the Cabinet Office sent to public sector bodies (not to businesses), reminding them that to comply with their obligations under EU and World Trade Organization rules, public sector bodies should not boycott particular countries unless the Government had already put in place sanctions against those countries.
