What the petition asks
According to "An overview of Sexual Offending"(Jan 2013) 57% of women who have been raped told someone but not the police, 28% told no one. More must be done to ensure that victims feel able to report incidents and be taken seriously. I suggest closer collaboration with charities such as rape crisis
See "An Overview of Sexual Offendinf in England and Wales" (Ministry of Justice, Home Office &a Office for National Statistics) for more general statistics.
I submit this petition in the hope that it will prompt wider debate about the way in which sexual violence is treated within the criminal justice system and how victims are treated.
