What the petition asks
There is a significant gap in the provision of childcare. Parents/carers are encouraged to return to work after averagely taking a year off after having a baby. But when working, they have little disposable income because it mainly goes on childcare.
The Joseph's roundtree foundation has recently published findings which included: that 60% of in-work families are currently in poverty. Many social issues would be resolved if there were less financial and emotional strain on families. This type of policy would efficiently use all the talent lost when people start a family. It makes sense in these uncertain and difficult economic times. Let's make a difference to our future generations lives!
