Airfields provide havens for flora and fauna as they are never ploughed or sprayed with chemicals - occasional aircraft movement has little effect on plants animals & reptiles

Airfields provide an open space amenity for local people
Airfields are being closed by developers destroying significant areas of natural habitat within airfield boundaries. All airfields should be reclassified as "Valuable Habitats" and given protected status to save rare plants, animals, reptiles, insects and invertebrates under The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010
