Petition · past parliament
Cap the earnings of professional footballers at a respectable level.

What the petition asks
The wages of professional footballers have become disproportionate to the world we live in. The wages offered are destroying our national game. If the wages were capped at, say 10k per week, the players would still earn in a fortnight what most people buying season tickets, would earn in a year.
Footballers have no need to be passionate about the game as it is. They can earn a lifetimes pension in a year for doing nothing but advertise themselves for their next transfer. The supporters deserve more.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting footballers' salaries.
