What the petition asks
OSG are uniformed members of prison staff that are not legally entitled to take action to stop rioting if it breaks out among inmates and are not legally able to carry out "control and restraint" techniques.
In the event of aggressive behaviour the OSG are not allowed to lay hands on the inmate.
In the event of aggressive behaviour the OSG are not allowed to lay hands on the inmate.
According to section 3 of NOMS-POA talk 1st Dec 16 OSG’s are not eligible for the reduction in retirement age as they are not in prisoner-facing roles, when infact we can be outside with over 200 prisoners at a time, visits or even reception are also common areas for OSG to have prisoner contact.
I believe all establishments have a serious deficit by not of training OSG at C&R basic level,The lack of training is an indication of the Prison Service's lack of concern for the safety of staff
