Due to new governing bodies independent midwives are no longer deemed 'safe' to practice during labour under their current indemnity insurance according to the NMC, give women these rights back! Do not allow IM to be told this! Continue to support and recognise independent midwives
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
It's clear you are concerned about indemnity insurance for independent midwives, but we're not sure what action you want the UK Government to take. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
For example, you could start a new a petition asking for the UK Government to work with the governing bodies to find a solution to this specific problem. We could also accept a petition asking for the Government to introduce different regulations around indemnity insurance for independent midwives.
