Urban and suburban trees need protecting as if they were in a conservation area

What the petition asks
Urban and suburban trees are not protected by the current system of getting Tree Preservation Orders for those under threat. The first thing that the community know about any threat is the chainsaws moving in and the trees disappearing. When the Tree Officer arrives, all that is left is the stump.
Giving all urban and suburban trees the same protection would give the Tree Officer time to visit vulnerable trees and make some decision on their amenity value to the whole community
We all deserve to enjoy trees as we walk to school, do our shopping and go about our daily lives, not just those lucky enough to be living in a conservation area.
