Force the BBC to reinstate Brian Matthew as Radio 2's Sound of the 60s presenter
Rejected
15 signatures
What the petition asks
The BBC say that Brian Matthew is too old to present the radio show Sound of the 60s. He met The Beatles, the Stones and many other iconic acts and is more than just a radio presenter. He's part of Britain's pop history himself and should be reinstated forthwith.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
