Petition · past parliament
EU nationals in the UK prior to brexit to get automatic permanent UK residency.
Rejected

What the petition asks
Allow any EU citizen who was resident in the UK prior to the referendum automatic permanent residency. There will be some residents who's case isn't clear cut. However, the government will know through HMRC, land registry and passport records etc who was already resident in the UK
There are reportedly about 3 million EU nationals living in the UK. Many owning properties, running businesses and being employed. Since brexit they have been left in limbo not knowing where their future lies. The current treatment of them as bargaining chips is not acceptable.
