What the petition asks

The Speaker of the UK House of Commons has no place to make government policy. He bears no responsibility for the comments he made and did so irresponsibly and effectively with impunity. In stark contrast, he welcomed the Chinese president warmly yet China's record on these issues is far worse.

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Withdrawing comments is a personal decision for the Speaker, and is therefore not the responsibility of the Government or Parliament.
