Stop speed restricted vehicles from overtaking during peak hours on motorways

Closed 27 signatures

What the petition asks

HGVs frequently 'elephant race' trying to pass each other. This overtaking frequently takes up to 10 miles due to the subtle differences in speed limiter calibration.

This causes long tailbacks, dangerous pulsating traffic flow and frustration to other motorists leading to dangerous manoeuvres.
No other form of transport, motorised, cycling or pedestrian would you consider an overtake that took this time
Transitioning from a 2 lane motorway to a 3 lane section can lead to HGVs 3 abreast creating a rolling road block for several miles
HGVs have blind spots, pulling into spaces that either don’t exist or into traffic flow travelling much faster
Cranes, vintage vehicles and buses only capable of travelling at agricultural speeds to have time restrictions motorway travel times
