Emotional Assistance Pet Act Urgently Needed.

Closed 365 signatures

What the petition asks

To grant the right for people in rented accommodation, who are struggling with emotional distress, depression - to keep a pet regardless of any “No Pet Clause”.

[According to Mental Health Foundation research, major depression is thought to be the second leading cause of disability worldwide.]
The highest rates of suicides are associated with depressive disorder. More than, 6,00 suicides occur in the UK and Ireland each year. Due to the housing crisis we become "generation rent". The Mental Health Foundation research confirms value of "pet therapy" in suicide prevention and treating depression leading to it. It is scientifically confirmed that human-animal emotional bonds are equal to mother-child one, that no one would dare to question.
